Note that rMBP has RAM soldered into the logic board, so it’s good to max it out - it’s not upgradeable later. SSD module is removable, there are 3rd party solutions like OWC and Transcend, so you can update it later. I have late 2012 rMBP13” (i5, 128SSD, 8GB RAM), and most of all I regret I didn’t opt to max the RAM.

I’d get 16GB of RAM in the first place, even at the cost of smaller SSD. You can change the SSD to even a 1TB module later, you can use external TB storage. But you can’t increase the RAM amount without changing the logic board.

Marcin,
Just came back from Apple store and they're telling me that SSD is also
soldered to the motherboard and 13'3 Macbook Pro cannot accept more than
8GB of RAM. In this case I'd have to buy 15" to get 16GB of RAM and the
price is dramatic, especially if you also add Nvidia $600-1000.
Not an easy decision.

Hello group,
I think that I'll buy 13.3" with 8gb RAM or 15.4" with 16gb RAM.
Will I be able to calibrate these using colormunki?
I do have good desktop PC, so this will be for travel mostly.
Thank you!

Not an easy decision.
Performance; portability; price. Pick two.
If you don't actually need to carry the computer with you, a desktop model
may well be the way to go. Or, if you already have a desktop suitable for
your needs, just get the bare minimum laptop for tethered shooting or quick
edits or whatever.
But if you actually need horsepower _and_ portability, open your wallet....
